Relationships and Health Education
As part of our school’s Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education programme, and in line with London Borough of Ealing’s recommended scheme of work for PSHE Education, children from Reception to Year 6 will take part in RHE lessons in the Summer term. These lessons have been carefully planned to be relevant and appropriate to each year group.
During ‘normal’ times, we would normally hold in person parent workshops about Hobbayne’s Relationship and Health Education curriculum. Due to the current Covid restrictions we have been working with Ealing’s Health Improvement Team to develop an information leaflet and three videos explaining the Relationship and Health Education curriculum. We have also organised for Karen Gibson, the Health Improvement Manager from Ealing’s Health Improvement Team to hold a virtual Question and Answer session.
The three videos will explain what Relationships and Health Education is in primary schools, the importance of RHE and what your child will be taught. These three recordings will be temporarily posted on our website for a week with an opportunity for you to send in any queries or questions after watching all three videos to the PSHE Lead via the admin email address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Videos will be available to view for two weeks on: Wednesday 5th May 2021
Video 1: What is Relationships and Health Education (RHE) in primary schools?
Video 2: Why is RHE important in primary schools?
Video 3: What will my child be taught?
A follow up Q&A will be held to respond to questions previously sent in week beginning 17th May. Details of the meeting will be sent nearer to the time.
We teach RHE using the Ealing Scheme of work from Nursery to Y6. This workshop may be particularly beneficial to parents/carers of children in Y4/5/6 as the scheme of work for these year groups covers puberty in more detail.
